Runaway Russian Evgeni Malkin resurfaced in Los Angeles at the L.A. Kings practice facility working out with NHL players after being
missing for almost a week.
Malkin left his Russian Super League team last Saturday when they arrived in Helsinki, Finland. That was the first moment he had control of his passport after his team Magnitogorsk, kept hold of it for the last month. His agent, J.P. Barry, met Malkin in Finland at the airport to get him into the United States. After they met up, they quickly kept low in an apartment near the airport while they waited for the U.S. Embassy to process an American visa. Once the visa process was complete, according to reports, within two hours they were on a plane to the United States. Twice, the CAA filed a two week notice to terminate Malkin's contract with the Russian team. The last notice was filed on Sunday. Now Malkin and his agents have surrounded themselves with legal counsel so they can figure out a way for him to play with the the team that chose him in the 2004 draft, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
